How to do a strapless Backroll
Abel Lago doing a strapless grab backroll in South Africa With Religion 9m and Frustona 5’7 RRD Surfboard.
Abel gave some tips to be successful :
-Start to go up wind and find a little wave, has to be vertical, this will help you to start the jump upwind.
-When you take off, move your kite to the zenith and try to put the bottom of your board to the wind.
-With your front hand wrap the rail near your front foot.
-Try to spin slow and with control.
-For landing, let go the board just half a meter before you land and flex your knees.
-Here is one of the more important moments, you have to pull hard the bar with your back hand and make a down loop with the kite, like this you don’t loose the line tension.
-First tries will be easier with big kites because it has more hang time but the final loop normal is too powerful.
– Important points: Onshore conditions, Vertical Wave, some wax on the rail, spin slow, don’t rotate too vertical and down loop the kite when you land.
Buena suerte,
Abel Lago.
