KSP Ponta Preta Cabo Verde 2011 – Day 1
Here is the clip (in HD this time, nice work !)of the day 1 at Ponta Preta, with Mitu Monteiro introducing his spot as one of the best spot on earth. He is right ! But I feel him a bit faltering and embarrassed because of the not really favourable forecast for the week.
We must send much more Positive Vibrations and think “No Stress” as Phillipe, this local business Rastaman … hahaha ! Easy to say. Let’s wait and see tomorrow !
In the meanwhile, Jah loves you, rastafary !
The summary of the KSP by Brian Wheeler :
Sal Island, Cape Verde — December 2, 2011: Today marks the first day of the 10-day holding period of the Ponta Preta Kite Surf Pro, the third and final stop of the KSP’s 2011 World Championship Kite Surfing Tour.
Faced with a flat ocean, however, KSP officials postponed the first possible start until tomorrow, which looks promising with a medium-sized swell expected to begin filling in tonight and through the weekend. With a bulk of KSP riders pre-seeded from the first two tour stops this year, organizers drew the remainder of rider’s names from a hat to determine the Round 1 lineup. (See below for full list.)
With a judge’s tower set up right in front of Sal’s legendary right-hand barreling break on the southwest of the island, Ponta Preta will serve as the primary competition venue. Facing fairly west, Ponta Preta works best on a northwest swell, while Secrets — the secondary venue located on Sal’s northerly flank — will be used in case of a north swell.
Event directors will re-assess conditions tomorrow morning and make the official call at 8 a.m., with a first possible start at 9 a.m. Live webstreaming will resume at 8 a.m. on kspworldtour.com/live. If you miss any of the action, it will all be archived heat by heat for your on-demand viewing pleasure.
