How to Toeside Air – Flukes Kitesurfing
In this video we will cover how you can do a toeside air on a strapless surfboard kitesurfing. Ride toeside, do a jump! I wish it was that easy! There are a few things to consider for the toeside air… in this video we will try and break down some points and give some tips for how you can start doing toeside airs for yourself. The toeside air is good fun, good style about it, do it in waves in onshore conditions which feel like doing a surfing air. learn air reverse’s, boardoff’s and other tricks all starting toeside.
So how do you toeside air on a strapless board.
Start with moderate speed with enough wind to make sure you can use the wind to let the board come up under your feet.
Front hand on the bar.
Look for the ramp.
Move the kite higher but the kite always stays in the forward motion.
Sheet out on the bar to drive hard upwind into the ramp,
Load off your backfoot and try an have the nose pointing up into the win (about 45 degrees) to let the wind lift the nose up. this feels like an ollie
Sheet in slightly to lift you and take your weight without pulling you off the board.
The nose comes up first bring your front knee up to chest As you get into the air, tweek the back of the board out using the back foot to drive the board into the wind The tweaked back foot help by changing your angle in the air Land pointing at the kite (about 45 degrees downwind)
Tips for the toeside strapless air.
Remember:
– kite always stays in the forward motion.
– You get pulled downwind. Anticipate the lean-to not get pulled over backward.
– Go fast enough so you can easily get into the air without to much reliance on the kite. (sheeting in)
– Try it with a grab -Try it with no grab. – Tweek the tail to help you land correctly
– Don’t ever let the kite move behind you. (back past 12)
